Long weekend…ing

This week has felt especially long, considering that I’m trying to finish up Chapter 1 of my thesis draft, on top of the other stuff that I have to read/do. Woke up at 7ish today to read an article before heading down to school for class.

Met up with Kar in the evening for dinner and mainly because Stella needed to elicit some judgements from her. I think all of us were glad for the opportunity to just hang out for a little bit on a weekday night. More of this soon I hope.

Stella and I have been looking through Warhammer armies and talking about them. Frankly it’s my fault- I’ve been reading too many painting forums and I’m now really gain to paint up an army, even though I’ve no one to play with. I’m not really a gamestore groupie. I guess I’m not someone that makes gaming friends that easily, for the core reason, I suspect, that I am unable to put my heart and soul into gaming unlike the others. Feel kinda bad being the half-baked gamer over there. Whatever it is, it’s great having the girlfriend as a best friend, gaming buddy, and confidante all rolled (hah gaming pun!) into one.

BBQ – done

Had our little christmasy bbq tonight, and I think that everyone enjoyed themselves. Threatened to rain and was really worried that all the hard work would be in vain, but thankfully the clouds just passed by without incident. Really enjoyed planning and executing this event with Stella. We probably wont have something like this again for some time (it’s really quite tiring, and poor stella had to walk to and fro bringing all those stuff down to the pit), but it was definitely fun while it lasted. Pics tomorrow when I’ve gotten my rest.

An early Merry Xmas people. And happy birthday Loris!

Pre BBQ ramblings

Am crossing my fingers for good weather tomorrow evening. After all that effort in planning the shopping list, buying the food from NTUC, hauling all the stuff home, marinating the freezing chicken meat while watching Cowboy Bebop, it would be hell of a waste if it rains tomorrow.  So hopefully, no dampeners tomorrow evening. We can probably cook the stuff in my kitchen if it rains, but that’s going to be a little boring.

Was a little worried that we might not have enough food, but looking at the number of wings, I think it would be just right for everybody. It was fun planning the whole party for the EL hons people with Stella all in all, and I just hope everyone will have fun tomorrow. Haven’t had a largeish gathering for some time already.

My Graduation

So here it is, a kind of rundown to the biggest day of university life – the commencement ceremony. I’ll let most of the pictures do the talking, since the whole idea of the commencement ceremony aside from collecting your cert is to remember those people who spent probably the most memorable time of your life with you.

So to start off, here’s me and my Most Wonderful Girl. Got her a bouquet of sunflowers – or sunflower since there’s only one, and she was mighty touched by it. haha. The bouquet turned out nicer than I actually expected, as the one at the flower shop wasn’t too pretty and I was having a bit of apprehensions over it. This day is significant to the both of us as we met in class, and now we’re commencing together… to MA. Yeah..school ain’t over yet for the both of us.

Some pictures in the changing area – harry, pants, roaches, and nana. We have wayy too many nicknames.

Us :
Lala and Pants. They both look so happy =) :
Us and nana :

Hweeyang who came to take pictures with us :

Pix (again). sorry too little guys in EL. haha. :

Inside the hall :

Started goofing around after we got our certs. The rest of the ceremony was wayy too boring. It got pretty surreal once I was on stage though. As if I spent four years in school and it’s just going to end with a handshake and a flash of a neon bulb. Well, that was fast.

Meanwhile, my brother and dad were having a bit of fun on their own :

Mom :

Hui. The one everyone thought was my real sibling :

Mingding who came to take pictures with us. Thanks dude!

Strange freak rain started afterwards, but it stopped just in time for us to take photos outside just before everyone started coming out :Love this picture. Looks so postcard worthy. haha.

Family picture :

Group picture with Stella’s family :

Always can count on the support of Gene. He seems to appear at every of his friends’ major events. I sometimes wonder how he does it. Audra came along too this time. The other brother – Andy Yap couldn’t make it here but I got your sms loud and clear. Thanks dude!

Me and Matt :
Asraf :

Biyou, who came to say hi and ended up the official photographer of the day :

Managed to catch Karen just before leaving :

Mom and I just outside the carpark. I think her top nicely matched the pink sash.

Me and my bear that stella painstakingly sewed on for me. Thanks dear =)
And the two other kids at home – the jumpy boy and the sulky girl :

The end.

Wait.

The beginning…?

P.S. CHERYL TAN WHERE WERE YOU? STELLA AND I MISSED TAKING PICTURES WITH YOU!! BOO.

EL HHH (Hons Happy Hour)

A couple of us took some time off the busy break and met up for dim sum today at Red Star. As we met at the early hours of 930am, some of us were obviously tired and a little cranky. This will be explained later ;)

Stella looking good. haha =)

This is the point where Cheryl started stoning and raised her hand to call the waitress, but uttered “Lao shi!” instead. Hilarious. Someone cant get enough of school eh? No wonder the waitress had the ‘duhhhh’ look on her face. haha.

Pants gave me the glare when I called her pau (er… the edible one) a baby’s head.

The worldly frog, which is becoming a permanent fixture where ever Pants is.

And all of us together (minus Matt who had to leave early). Note the colour divide.

Good times people!
